SERGIO GOMEZ was born in Medellín, Colombia in 1975. He began his creative career in photography at the age of 15. He graduated as an Architect, and afterwards he studied Photographic Creation. In 1997, Sergio had an academic internship at the School of Arts of the Universidad Complutense in Madrid. He currently heads his own Photography and Architecture Studio which is dedicated to architectonical design as well as architectural photography. His photographs have been in several solo and group exhibitions. In 2005, was selected as the winner for the call on cultural projects in the city of Medellin with his work “Vertical City”. This particular work tracked the changes in the facades of modern architecture in the city. His photographs have been published in numerous books and international magazines such as Architectural Record, A+U, Wallpaper, Mark, Domus among others. From 2000 to 2009, he was a lecturer at the School of Architecture in the U.P.B in the subjects of theory, history of architecture, and design workshop. Through Sergio's exhibits in Colombia and publications in international media, his work in architectural photography has contributed to an evolving representation of Colombian culture and its architecture.
